West Ham assistant coach Rick Passmoor has left his position at the club just a matter of days before the new WSL season is set to get underway.
Rick Passmoor has since been confirmed as the new Leicester City interim manager.
West Ham saw a significant improvement last year during Passmoor’s second season at the club.
The Hammers finished ninth in the WSL in what was a much better year than the previous campaign when they came 11th in the top flight.
Last year West Ham women also set a new club record for most home wins in a WSL season as well as the most points they have ever accumulated in the top flight.
Regarding his departure, Passmoor said: “With 12 months left on my contract at West Ham United, I have had to make the tough decision to step back from my role at the Club for family reasons.
“What made my time over the last two seasons so special were the people. The people at Chadwell Heath, the catering team, the ground staff, the boys Academy and obviously the wider women’s department.
“A special mention must go to the gaffer, Rehanne, for asking me to be part of the journey. With her leadership, I’m sure there will be many more successes for the team moving forwards.
“I’d also like to say a big thank you to the fans. Keep backing the team and being noisy. Dagenham became a fortress last season and your passion and support is incredible, both home and away.
“Finally, all that’s left for me to say after the experience I’ve had in east London: once a Hammer, always a Hammer.”
Passmoor will now join Leicester City as interim manager to begin the season.
Rehanne Skinner said: “I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to Rick for his commitment and hard work throughout his time at West Ham United.
“Last season was a record-breaking campaign for us and Rick’s experience, energy and positivity played a big role in the progress that we made both on and off the pitch.
The Hammers assistant coach Rick Passmoor isn’t the only departure from West Ham this summer.
The club has lost some key names in the transfer window so far with five players released and another two stars leaving on loan this summer.
Highly-rated teenager Princess Ademiluyi also said her goodbyes this week after signing for Gotham FC.
West Ham get their new WSL campaign underway this weekend as they face Tottenham Hotspur away from home on Sunday afternoon.
