The Baggies are not considering Williams as an option for the Albion job at this stage.

Swansea City boss Luke Williams isn’t in the frame for the West Bromwich Albion job.

This is according to an update from Express and Star journalist Lewis Cox, who took to X to clarify the Baggies’ stance on the 43-year-old.

Albion are still without a new manager following Carlos Corberan’s exit over the Christmas period, with the 41-year-old making the move to La Liga outfit Valencia.

Corberan could be a big miss at The Hawthorns, considering the positive impact he had during his time in the Midlands.

However, how good their next appointment is will determine how much of a miss the Spanish coach is.

This will be Shilen Patel’s first managerial appointment during his reign at Albion and he will be keen to bring in the right man.

Moves have already been made, with TBR Football reporting that an approach has been made to former England caretaker boss Lee Carsley.

But the former Birmingham City player has turned down the opportunity to move to the Baggies - and the Championship side’s search for a new boss goes on - as they look to appoint the right person to take them back to the Premier League.

The club’s recent 3-1 victory against Preston North End has allowed West Brom to climb back into the play-offs - and the new manager will have the task of keeping them in the promotion mix.

West Brom stance on Luke Williams

Williams has enjoyed a fairly successful managerial career.

Not only did he win promotion with Notts County, allowing the club to climb into the EFL again, but he also helped to establish them as competitors at the top end of League Two before moving to Swansea.

He has also done a respectable job for the Swans, considering he was managing in the National League not so long ago.

However, Cox believes Williams isn’t in the frame for the top job at The Hawthorns right now. With that, the Swans look set to retain their boss for the foreseeable future.

Luke Williams will want Swansea City exit speculation to disappear

Swansea face Albion on Saturday afternoon - and it could have been a very interesting day for Williams - coming up against a side he has been linked with.

But Cox has poured cold water on these rumours and that could help to minimise speculation ahead of the clash at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Following such a poor showing from the Swans at Portsmouth, Williams will be keen to focus on his current side and not have distractions from elsewhere.

A win against the Baggies would be a timely boost after their hammering at Fratton Park.
