After initially wanting to block Wessam Abou Ali's exit, Al-Ahly now seems to be changing its stance. Facing the Palestinian striker's clear desire to leave, the Cairo club has made a dramatic U-turn.

The 26-year-old forward put pressure on the club's management to grant him a transfer. Al-Ahly complied, setting the opening price for negotiations at $10 million.

The Red Devils' leadership fears a repeat of the Walid Azaro episode. Back in 2018, Al-Ahly refused to sell their Moroccan striker to a Chinese club, despite a tempting $7 million offer.

Azaro's form then took a noticeable dip, and he was eventually sold to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq for just $900,000.

It's worth noting that Abou Ali, who netted a hat-trick against FC Porto in the FIFA Club World Cup (4-4), is under contract with Al-Ahly until 2028. He is being tracked by several clubs, including Al-Wasl from the UAE and Al-Rayyan from Qatar. He has scored 38 goals and provided 10 assists in 48 matches for the Egyptian giants.
