‘We’re advancing’ – Gianluigi Donnarumma confident of PSG contract extension | OneFootball

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s (26) future at Paris Saint-Germain remains up in the air, however, the Italian struck a positive tone regarding a contract extension on Wednesday.

Donnarumma was one of the major architects of PSG’s triumph in the UEFA Champions League, however, he has just one year remaining on his deal. Either he extends with the club this summer, or he will be sold during the current transfer window, with Les Parisiens determined not to lose him for free.

As exclusively revealed by Get French Football News in May, the ball had been in the player’s court. The Italian, like other players who have recently renewed, have to agree to a set of “criteria” in order to extend. L’Équipe understands that those “criteria” entail a lower salary but considerable performance-related bonuses.

Whilst the contract situation remains up in the air, he has garnered interest, notably from Manchester City and Manchester United. However, Donnarumma has now said that talks over a renewal are “advancing”.

“We’re advancing, we’re advancing (smiles). My agent (Enzo Raiola) is speaking with the club. I’m focused on the match, on the trophy (FIFA Club World Cup), but there is no problem,” he said.
