Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi believes his side deserved more from their goalless stalemate against Mamelodi Sundowns during their midweek Betway Premiership action at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
The draw saw the two teams maintain their unbeaten run in the league thus far as Chiefs retained their second place standing with 10 points on the log, while the defending champions remained in third place with eight points accumulated.
With the Brazilians having started the 2025/26 campaign in an unfamiliar fashion, there have been suggestions that the dip in form is down to the gruesome FIFA Club World Cup Masandawana participated in, which earned them global plaudits for their display.
However, while the Chiefs mentor acknowledges that Miguel Cardoso’s men may be suffering from fatigue, he believes that the Portuguese tactician has a plethora of quality at his disposal to deal with the situation.
“It’s a fact that maybe there is fatigue with a team that played three days ago [in the MTN8 against Orlando Pirates], as well as a team that played at the FIFA Club World Cup, they didn’t have a proper pre-season,” stated Nabi.
“But we know all the number of players they have and the quality they have, we believe that it’s easier for them to replace players that don’t play [well] or are fatigued.
On the match, Nabi is adamant that Amakhosi deserved to maintain their winning streak with maximum points at the expense of Sundowns, stating that a draw feels like a loss of precious two points for his team.
“Honestly, looking at the game, the intensity that we put in, the first half was not very good, but the opportunities were created,” added the Tunisian mentor.
“Second half, with a more aggressive approach and the number of times that we got into their box, needing the last pass, I believe that without lacking respect for the opponents, we lost two points.
