Following a failed stint as manager at Birmingham City, Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is looking for a quick return to management.
Former England striker Rooney was sacked as manager of Championship side Birmingham City after just 83 days in charge in January, however, despite the “setback“, he is looking to quickly get back into a hot seat. Speaking during the BBC’s coverage of the FA Cup tie between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United on Wednesday, Rooney said that he was a “fighter,” adding that he wanted to “get back into management”.
Rooney, who was sacked by Birmingham following a 3-0 loss against Leeds United on 2nd January, says that he has had time to “reflect” on what went wrong in his previous stint in management. Whilst in the short-term Rooney is simply looking to get back in the ring, the Englishman has set himself some more long-term objectives.
“Managing Manchester United or Everton is the aim. These big jobs are where you want to get to […] I want to get myself back into management so that in the next 10 years I’m hopefully in a position to go into one the big jobs,” said Rooney.
