A former member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week made clear his ongoing support for the Blaugrana.

The player in question? João Cancelo.

Defender Cancelo of course spent the 2023/24 campaign plying his trade in Catalunya’s capital.

Under the watch of then-manager Xavi, the Portuguese played a leading role, racking up four goals and five assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

In the end, as much did not prove quite enough to convince Deco and co. to make his signing a permanent one, with Manchester City having been demanding a premium fee for their versatile full-back.

As alluded to above, though, Cancelo, for his part, evidently bears Barcelona no ill will for their decision.

As much was made clear by the 31-year-old himself early this week.

Upon arriving for a training session with current club Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, Cancelo was spotted donning the colours of the Blaugrana:
