Arsenal are close to getting Fabrizio Romano’s “here we go” for the transfer of long-standing Man United target Viktor Gyokeres, according to Romano himself.
The transfer guru posted a video this lunchtime claiming that the Gunners have “an agreement very close with Sporting” and “deal done with the player for a long time.”
Romano claimed that “Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres” from Sporting and “a long-term contract” has been agreed between the player and club.
Sporting had held firm on their price tag of €80 million but there has reportedly been “a breakthrough in talks” over the last 24-48 hours and Viktor Gyokeres is set to become a new Arsenal striker.
A deal is so close to coming into fruition that a “here we go can come very soon” according to the Italian journalist.
There were reports that United still believed they had a chance to sign the Swedish striker but according to Romano, “he only wants to go to Arsenal and he will not show up for training anymore.”
He added, “so Gyokeres is ready, he wants to go to Arsenal, his desire is very clear.”
The news will come as a blow to Ruben Amorim who would have hoped his side could have won the race for the lethal striker who bagged 39 league goals last season.
United have already missed out on Liam Delap, who completed a move to Chelsea earlier in the summer and can now scratch Gyokeres off the list.
Supporters of the Red Devils will hope that this means the club will now turn its attention to Victor Osimhen but his wage demands remain out of reach for United.
What’s more, reports from Italy suggest he has also chosen to join Galatasaray this summer.
United have recently been linked with Ollie Watkins and free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin as fans become increasingly impatient over the lack of a new number nine signing this summer.
