Jeremie Frimpong scored a brilliant goal as Bayer Leverkusen hammered Bayern Munich 3-0 in the Bundesliga. The former Celtic youngster has been sensational for Xabi Alonso’s team this season as the may look to take the title from Bavaria.
Celtic signed Frimpong on deadline day in 2019 from Manchester City and he quickly forced himself into Neil Lennon’s plans with a blistering debut against Partick Thistle. In his relatively short time at the club, Frimpong made 51 appearances scoring three goals and assisting eight times. His impressive displays saw Leverkusen pay a decent sum for him but such was Celtic’s role in discovering and nurturing the player that the club retained a sell on fee.
Fabrizio Romano said €40m was the estimated fee that teams will be able to buy the Flying Dutchman for. Although, with 27 appearances comprising of 8 goals and 10 assists, his value will be rising.
If €40m is the fee, you would imagine Celtic would get between 15-20% of the profit, which could work out £4.2m-£5.6m. Not a bad amount.
