Mauricio Pochettino has just been speaking to the press conference after tonight’s win, and he was generally in a good mood, as you’d expect.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing. Questions about his future made him understandably annoyed. He certainly did his part to improve his chances tonight.

“I don’t know [if I will be here]. it is difficult to see every single week that I am under scrutiny and judgement, yes,” he admitted.

“But it is not my decision to be here or not to be here.”

Fans have been pretty on the fence about him, but tonight’s win will be big check mark in his favour. The sporting directors are going to judge him at the end of the season, and if his team play like this in the rest of the games, there’s no way they’ll sack him.

Yet the tone of his interview was so surprisingly negative he almost seemed resigned to getting the sack. He certainly wasn’t beating his chest after a big win. It’s all a bit of a negative tinge on an otherwise great night.
