Valencia will make a last attempt this week to renew the deal of Cristhian Mosquera, who is on Premier League side Aston Villa’s list.
The Villans faced heartbreak on the final day of the recent Premier League season, when they failed to secure Champions League football in back-to-back campaigns.
Unai Emery’s side performed very well in Europe last season and they will be playing the Europa League in the upcoming term.
The Aston Villa chiefs have started working to help Emery have another decent campaign by getting him players who will strengthen the squad, but there could also be exits, with now Boubacar Kamara being targeted.
The Villa Park outfit want to add quality depth to their central defensive options, with Axel Disasi heading back to Chelsea, and Valencia’s Mosquera is a player they have been widely linked with.
However, Aston Villa have Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in for the Spanish defender, and they have been very persistent with their interest.
The Spain Under-23 international is in his final year of contract at the Mestalla, and according to Spanish journalist Nacho Sanchis, Valencia will make a last attempt to keep him at the club.
It has been suggested that Valencia will sit down with Mosquera this week and there is a chance that he could stay.
It remains to be seen if Carlos Corberan and the club hierarchy will be able to convince him to stay by presenting him with their project.
However, if he decides he does not want to stay at Valencia, his preferred destination is German outfit RB Leipzig.
Die Roten Bullen are ready to pay €20m to Valencia for Mosquera, who has a verbal agreement in place with the German club.
Aston Villa though may well be keeping their eyes on Mosquera’s situation at Valencia this week.
