UEFA have confirmed that Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli being listed as number 10 in the Gunners squad list for the 2024-25 Champions League on their website was a mistake, assigning the Brazilian his number 11 shirt.

Arsenal fans were confused seeing the attacker registered with the no.10 shirt on the website yesterday, with many thinking the surprise change in shirt number was official.

Martinelli has always worn the no.11 jersey, and the Gunners star will continue to do so going forward, with UEFA quickly realising their mistake and changing it.

However, the administrative and controlling body for European football may need to make further changes to the list as summer signing and Dutch goalkeeper Tommy Setford is still listed as no. 35 on their website when his official jersey number with Arsenal is 36.

No. 35 is an actual first-team number but it remains to be seen if UEFA assigning it to the 18-year-old is a mistake as well.

Scotland international left-back Kieran Tierney remains listed on the website, confirming that Arsenal have indeed named him for the league phase of the new Champions League format.

The North London club will be facing two teams from Pot 1, Pot 2, Pot 3 and Pot 4 of the elite European competition, which would see them play Inter Milan, Atalanta, Sporting Lisbon and Girona away from home, while they will face Paris Saint-Germain, Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and AS Monaco at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal begin their campaign on September 19 with a trip to Atalanta before hosting PSG on October 1 in their first home Champions League game of 2024-25.

The Gunners were dumped out by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals last term and will look to go further this season.
