We are facing Norwegian runners-up SK Brann Bergen in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League - and we now know the fixture details!
The first leg will be played away on 23 July at 19:00 in the Brann stadium. The decisive second leg then takes place a week later in Salzburg on 30 July at 20:45.
SK Brann are currently second in the Norwegian league and will be the first of three opponents our Red Bulls have to beat if they are to make the Champions League again.
The team with three league titles and seven cups to their name is coached by 42-year-old Freyr Alexandersson from Iceland. Their home Brann stadium has space for 17,500 spectators.
Tickets for our home match will go on sale on Tuesday 1 July at 10:00 CEST, with details to follow.
Even if it won't be easy, we are looking forward to our journey to Norway in July, which we are optimistic about. We can expect a match in a small stadium in Bergen with a fantastic atmosphere. Brann have the advantage of being in the rhythm of a calendar-year season. The quality of Norwegian teams has been shown by Bodo Glimt [semi-finalists in the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League].
Thomas Letsch, head coach
Although Champions League qualifying seems a long way away during the Club World Cup, it is good to know who we will face first. I expect that we will face physically strong opponents in our first test in an extremely challenging route to the group stage. Our aim against Brann is to make the next round, of course.
