Transfer priority in the summer: Bayern still have England star in their sights

Regardless of the question of whether Thomas Tuchel will remain coach at FC Bayern or not, Munich are looking to add to their (defensive) midfield in the summer. One name that is repeatedly linked with FCB is Amadou Onana. As has now become known, the Belgian is high on the transfer list of Max Eberl and Co.

After the last-minute transfer of Joao Palhinha in the summer of 2023 fell through, Bayern are planning to reactivate their search for a six-man in the upcoming transfer period.

Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are still convinced that Munich need a „real six-man“. Amadou Onana from Everton FC is one candidate who has been repeatedly rumoured at Säbener Straße in recent months.

According to the British portal Football Insider, Bayern are „extremely interested“ in signing the Belgian international. The transfer of the defensive midfielder is therefore a „top priority“ at FCB.

Onana costs around 70 million euros

The 22-year-old moved to Liverpool from OSC Lille for 35 million euros in the summer of 2022. He previously played one season for Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga 2.

His current market value is estimated at €50 million by Transfermarkt. However, Everton will not let their star player and key player, who is contractually tied to the Toffees until 2027, leave for this sum. According to Sky, the financial pain threshold is between 60 and 70 million euros.

One thing is clear: before Bayern make a concrete move for Onana, they need to make room in the squad. With Aleksandar Pavlovic, Leon Goretzka, Konrad Laimer and Joshua Kimmich, the record champions currently have four regular midfielders. While Kimmich could become a permanent solution for the right side of defence, Goretzka is considered a candidate for sale.
