Maik Nawrocki is the latest Celtic star to suffer a muscle injury
The Polish defender has been rarely seen in these parts since joining from Legia Warsaw a couple of summers ago and doesn’t look like he will ever have a future at Celtic Park whilst Brendan Rodgers is the manager.
Nawrocki, like so many others that were signed during our summer of discontent window, has scarcely made the matchday squad at times and the last memorable display from the centre-back was when he was drafted in last Christmas time during out 2-1 victory over theRangers in the Glasgow Derby match at Parkhead.
Now it has been reported by Scott Burns writing in Daily Record that provincial English club, Oxford United are planning an audacious move for the Polish player. It’s claimed that the Oxford boss Gary Rowwett is very keen to bolster his defence to ensure their safety in the Championship this year and view the 23-year-old as someone who could potentially aid that quest. It’s stated it would be a loan deal and there is no mention whether it would be with an optional buy-clause included.

After sending out Stephen Welsh on loan it would be in Maik’s best interest to find another club purely for playing time at this juncture. At his age minutes is crucial in a players development and it would be a total waste for him to kick around Lennoxtown without ever seeing any first team action.
A move to a competitive league such as the English Championship could serve him well and also drive up interest in his services if he does well, meaning he could have a pick of clubs come the end of the season.
