West Ham United are desperate for reinforcements in attack in the winter transfer window.
The Hammers are dealing with injuries to Niclas Fullkrug, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio.
Injury-prone Fullkrug is in the infirmary once again, while Michail Antonio was involved in a horrific car crash and is not expected to play for at least a year.
West Ham boss Graham Potter has been using Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta as makeshift strikers in recent matches.
The East Londoners submitted a £57 million bid for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran earlier this month, but their offer was turned down by the Lions.
However, L’Equipe report the 21-year-old is now close to joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.
Villa were adamant Duran is not for sale in this transfer window, but it looks they have now changed their stance regarding the player.
It is said they are about to accept an offer worth £59m for the young striker.
West Ham had a great opportunity to secure a deal for Duran in the summer transfer window. But they were not ready to pay a premium fee for the Colombia international and went on to sign Fullkrug.
That was a huge mistake as the £27m move for the German has proved to be a failure.
Duran, dubbed “special” by his current manager Unai Emery, would have been an excellent signing for the Irons.
He has just turned 21 but has already scored 20 goals in 78 appearances across all competitions for the Midlands outfit.
The 21-year-old is highly rated for his aerial prowess, physicality and finishing ability.
But now the Colombian footballer is poised to join Al-Nassr, who will likely give him a very lucrative deal.
