Tottenham Hotspur head to Liverpool this evening one step away from the Carabao Cup final.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have a one goal lead to protect at Anfield, after Lucas Bergvall’s winner in the first leg last month. Spurs have struggled this season but are two positive results from a first major trophy since 2008.
Successive wins over IF Elfsborg and Brentford have lifted the mood in North London, alongside some encouraging January business. Spurs brought in Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel in the final 48 hours of the window and both could debut this evening.
Despite their first-leg win, Postecoglou’s side face an enormous task tonight. Liverpool have lost just three times in all competitions this season, with one a dead-rubber against PSV in Europe. The Reds lead the Premier League table and are competing on all fronts under Arne Slot.
Postecoglou has confirmed that Kevin Danso will play tonight. The winter window signing could start at Liverpool, with Spurs taking a cautious approach with Micky van de Ven’s recovery. Radu Dragusin is out for the season with an ACL injury, while Cristian Romero also remains sidelined.
Mathys Tel is also set to make the squad after completing a loan move from Bayern Munich. The 19-year-old boosts a depleted forward line that is missing Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert and Brennan Johnson. Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Destiny Udogie are among the other high-profile absentees.
Tottenham predicted XI: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Davies, Spence; Bentancur, Sarr, Bergvall; Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son.
Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday 6th February 2025.
Liverpool vs Tottenham will be shown free-to-air on ITV 1 in the UK, and streamed via ITVX. It will also be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Football due to an agreement between the broadcasters.
