Tottenham Hotspur have decided to sign Timo Werner permanently at the end of the season.

The German attacker joined Spurs from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window this year, with the option for the transfer to become permanent in the summer.

Tottenham agreed a deal with the German club to extend his loan period for another season, along with the option to sign him permanently for £8.5 million.

According to the Sunday Mirror (page 73), Ange Postecoglou wants to tie down on-loan winger Werner on a long-term deal at the club.

Tottenham are seemingly happy to meet the asking price set for the 28-year-old attacker, who can play across all positions up front.

Good decision by Tottenham

Werner scored two goals in 13 games in the Premier League last season.

He has made only three starts in the league this season and has registered three assists. The German forward is yet to score a goal this term.

Werner is known for his pace, intelligent runs and ability to get into the box, but his finishing has always been erratic.

Despite his vast talent, he is rarely the first name on the teamsheet. However, Werner can be a terrific squad player.

He has a lot of football left in him, and Spurs can easily offer him a three or four-year deal.

Tottenham are also looking to keep Ben Davies. The senior Spurs defender is the club’s longest-serving player.

His contract is running out next summer, but Tottenham are looking to trigger a deal extension until 2026.

The 31-year-old, who was signed by Mauricio Pochettino, has been a great servant for the club.

He is currently playing in central defence alongside Radu Dragusin in the absence of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.
