Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign wantaway Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel.
Tel has decided to leave Bayern in search of more regular first-team opportunities, prompting interest from multiple clubs.
Tottenham have been the most active club in the race to sign Tel, and the north Londoners are hoping to steal a march over a myriad of other contenders.
A loan and a transfer are two possibilities on the table, although Tel has not yet made up his mind about his preferred club.
Chelsea and Arsenal are among clubs Tottenham have to battle in the race to sign Tel, but reports claim the Frenchman isn’t convinced about a move to Chelsea given the fierce competition for places at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United are also in the mix, but the Red Devils only want a loan move, and that depends on what happens with Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford over the next few days.
Garnacho is attracting interest from Chelsea and Napoli, while Rashford wants to move to Barcelona. If either of them leave the club, United are expected to make a move for Tel.
Chelsea have already made background checks on Tel and remain in the mix, though it remains uncertain whether they will submit an official bid.
Meanwhile, Spurs are preparing to step up their pursuit, alongside other Premier League and European clubs.
Postecoglou is eager to bring in attacking reinforcements, with injuries playing a major role in Spurs’ downward spiral.
With Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and Timo Werner unavailable, Tottenham are in desperate need of depth in forward areas.
Spurs’ recent dealings with Bayern – having sold both Harry Kane and Eric Dier to the Bundesliga giants – could aid negotiations if they decide to formalize their interest in Tel.
