Tottenham are dealing with a few injury issues as they battle for Champions League qualification next term.

Spurs are embroiled in a fierce fight with Aston Villa for a fourth-place finish in the Premier League in Ange Postecoglou’s eventful first season in charge, though back-to-back painful defeats by Newcastle and fierce rivals Arsenal have left them with a lot of work to do down the home stretch.

After Sunday’s controversial 3-2 home north London derby loss, Tottenham remain fifth and now seven points behind Aston Villa with two games in hand, Unai Emery’s side having been held by a 2-2 draw against Chelsea on Saturday night.

Postecoglou was dealt a key blow in advance of Arsenal’s visit after Destiny Udogie was ruled out, while Timo Werner was also forced off at the weekend as the likes of Pedro Porro and Richarlison returned.

Here is all the latest Tottenham injury news and potential return dates.

Timo Werner

The former Chelsea forward started in attack for Spurs against Arsenal, but suffered what looked to be hamstring injury on the half-hour mark as he received treatment on the pitch.

Werner was quickly replaced by Brennan Johnson and quizzed on his injury after the game, Postecoglou said: “I’m not sure mate. He felt his hamstring. We’ll find out the extent of it.”

The German will now be assessed ahead of Tottenham’s next huge London derby clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, which is promptly followed by a trip to play Liverpool at Anfield.

There is also the visit of Manchester City coming up, with Spurs also having to play Burnley and Sheffield United before the end of the season.

Potential return date: Unknown at this stage, pending further assessment

Oliver Skipp

Skipp has been out of favour at Tottenham for some time now, having not made an appearance for almost three months despite being fit and available.

However, his complete absence against Arsenal was due to a minor injury revealed by Postecoglou during Friday’s pre-match press conference.

It doesn’t sound like Skipp has anything serious, so he could presumably be in contention for a place in the matchday squad against Chelsea.

However, it is worth noting that he hasn’t even made the bench for Tottenham in the Premier League since the 3-0 defeat by Fulham last month.

Potential return date: Thursday May 2, vs Chelsea

Destiny Udogie

Udogie dropped a bombshell on social media last weekend by revealing that he would miss the rest of the season with an unspecified injury.

The Italian right-back, who has enjoyed an excellent first season at Spurs, confirmed he had undergone surgery in a post on Instagram.

Postecoglou expanded on the issue during his pre-Arsenal press conference, saying Udogie’s surgery had gone well after an “unfortunate incident” in training that is expected to see him miss this summer’s European Championship with Italy as well as the rest of the domestic campaign.

“It was non-contact. He just went to have a strike at goal by himself and got the injury,” Postecoglou said.

Spurs will hope Udogie can return to fitness in time for pre-season in the summer.

Potential return date: Summer 2024

Manor Solomon

Solomon has endured an injury-hit first season at Tottenham, having played just 198 minutes of football in total and undergone initial surgery on a knee problem back in September.

However, the winger did not recover sufficiently and needed another procedure in March that is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season.

“Lately I’ve been away from social media and focusing solely on my rehab and getting back on the field,” he said at the time. “The last period has been the most difficult and frustrating in my career.

“In the past 5 months I’ve been working as hard as possible to get back to doing what I love the most, but unfortunately, I haven’t fully recovered yet. At the same time, I’m full of motivation and will continue to do everything in order to be back stronger than ever to help my club & country.

“Thank you for your support, see you guys soon.”

Potential return date: Summer 2024

Fraser Forster

Guglielmo Vicario’s back-up has been unavailable since sustaining a foot fracture in training in mid-February.

He is unlikely to be in a position to return this season as third-choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin continues to provide cover for Vicario.

Ryan Sessegnon

Sessegnon will hope his latest surgery performed in February will finally rid him of the chronic hamstring problems that have hampered his career over recent years.

The 23-year-old underwent an operation on his right hamstring following an Under-21 game, having also had surgery on his left hamstring last year.
