The captain remains a doubt to face Liverpool this weekend

Tottenham are sweating over the fitness of captain Heung-min Son ahead of a huge trip to Liverpool, but added no new injuries as they lost to Nottingham Forest on Monday night.

The skipper has missed the club’s last two fixtures after finally succumbing to a troublesome foot injury, but otherwise the club’s fitness issues are all but resolved.

James Maddison picked up a knock against Eintracht Frankfurt but is expected to be fine for the trip to Anfield, which could see the Reds crowned Premier League champions.

It leaves centre-back Radu Dragusin as the only long-term injury, with previously crocked Kevin Danso coming off the bench in Germany after a number of weeks sidelined.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Tottenham injury news

James Maddison

James Maddison was forced off during the win over Frankfurt in the Europa League after a full-force collision with the German side’s goalkeeper Kaua Santos, which won the penalty that settled the tie.

Maddison was able to join his team-mates during the celebrations but Postecoglou remained wary of the midfielder’s fitness heading into the visit of Nottingham Forest on Monday evening.

“It's fair to say he'll probably be a bit sore, so he's probably a doubt for Monday.”

Maddison returned to Postecoglou’s squad for Monday’s loss to Nottingham Forest, but did not come off the bench as Spurs fell to a 1-2 loss at home.

Potential return date: Liverpool (a) on Sunday, April 25, 2025

Heung-min Son

Spurs skipper Son was a surprise absentee for the win in Germany last week and again missed the visit of Nottingham Forest on Monday night, making him a doubt to face Liverpool on Sunday.

It emerged in Frankfurt that Son had been managing a foot problem for some time, which was not improving and has now forced the forward to spend a spell on the sidelines.

Postecoglou said last week: “He's been dealing with a foot problem for a while, so now is as good a time as any to give him the right time to get over it. He'll definitely miss Monday. It's got to the point where not only was it not improving, but it was deteriorating.'

Radu Dragusin

Radu Dragusin is not expected to return for the remainder of the season.

The centre-back suffered a serious knee injury in February and quickly underwent surgery.

A club statement at the time read: “Radu underwent surgery today following his ACL injury. That procedure has now been completed, and the centre-back will now commence with his recovery before beginning the rehab process.”
