In a recent report, Sky Sport claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Arsenal in pursuit of the Germany international this off-season.

Sane’s Decent Numbers In German Football

The 29-year-old proved his worth at times on the left flank but struggled to find consistency for the Munich outfit in the previous campaign. Sane found the back of the net 13 times and secured six assists in 45 appearances for Bayern last season across all fronts.

The German sensation was a good performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 3.68 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He did well to keep 43.3% of his shots on target. The Essen-born talent even distributed the ball relatively well in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 82.5% in the German first division (stats via fbref.com).

Sane is under contract at the Allianz Arena until the end of this month which could open the door for Tottenham to snap him up on a free transfer this summer.

Is Sane A Decent Fit For Tottenham Hotspur?

Sane can use his quickness well to cause some problems for his marker out in the wide areas. He is a good dribbler with the ball and can create a few inviting chances for his teammates to score.

The German wide player can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals up top. He mainly plays as a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or in the number ten position if required.

Sane would add more pace and goals to Tottenham‘s frontline. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular starting role at the North London club next season.

At 29, Sane is still playing in his prime which makes him a decent fit for Spurs’ needs in the short-term. The German wing wizard could help the London club challenge across all competitions. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City and won’t take much time to adjust to life in North London. Therefore, Tottenham should focus on trying everything they can to get Sane on board soon.
