In a recent report, The Telegraph stated that Tottenham Hotspur are in the running to land Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Aston Villa in the race to acquire the services of the English playmaker in the summer.

Gallagher is having a decent campaign at Stamford Bridge after putting in a handful of impressive displays for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the Premier League. The 24-year-old has scored four goals and picked up nine assists in 49 matches for Chelsea this season in multiple competitions.

The Epsom-born talent has been a decent performer in the middle of the park as he is averaging 2.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 91.4% in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the West London club will run out at the end of next season which could give Tottenham a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal later this summer.

Is Gallagher A Decent Option For Tottenham Hotspur?

Gallagher is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his side in the middle of the park. He usually clears his lines when needed and can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. The English sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and can set up a few clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field.

Gallagher is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if told to do so. We can expect him to add more quality to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s first team.

At 24, Gallagher has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a great option for the North London club to pursue at the end of this campaign. With all things considered, Postecoglu should try everything in his power to win the race for Gallagher’s services this summer.
