Warm-up for Toronto FC in Marbella, Spain

The team played its first preseason match against Norwegian club Fredrikstad FK, a game structured in four 30-minute quarters to allow for squad rotations.

Toronto FC’s initial lineup featured key players such as captain Jonathan Osorio and Italian forward Federico Bernardeschi, both of whom played a crucial role in the early stages of the match. The first quarter ended scoreless, with both teams displaying a solid defensive setup.

Theo Corbeanu shines, but Toronto FC concede a late goal

Toronto FC found its breakthrough in the second quarter when Theo Corbeanu scored in the 47th minute, marking his debut goal for the club.

His strike gave Toronto FC a 1-0 lead, and the team maintained control throughout the rest of the quarter, showing strong organization and attacking intent.

At halftime, Fraser opted for a complete squad rotation, introducing players such as Deybi Flores and Lorenzo Insigne for the final two quarters. While the second unit played with intensity, they struggled to create clear scoring opportunities.

Despite holding their lead for most of the game, Toronto FC conceded a late goal in the 119th minute when Mai Traore found the net for Fredrikstad FK, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Although the result was not ideal, the performance provided valuable insights for Fraser and his coaching staff. The match highlighted Toronto FC’s improved structure but also areas that need refinement before the MLS season begins.

The team will continue its preseason preparations, aiming to build on the positives and address its weaknesses in upcoming friendlies.
