Torino are pushing to sign Inter Milan striker Marko Arnautovic in January, and will meet with the Austrian’s representatives soon.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Torino are desperate to sign a striker during the January transfer window.
The Piedmontese club suffered a bitter blow in the loss of Duvan Zapata. The former Atalanta and Napoli striker is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he suffered in the autumn.
Torino want to sign a striker with a similar profile to the Colombian. Therefore, they’re after a player who can provide not just goals but also physicality and holdup play leading the line.
Torino have looked into a number of potential targets in attack.
Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone would seem to be off the table. The Partenopei want at least €15 million for the Argentine, well out of Torino’s price range.
Then, Everton have firmly rebuffed the Granata’s interest in former Udinese striker Beto.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport report, Torino are not keen on the idea of signing Andrea Petagna.
But one player who could check all of Torino’s boxes is Inter striker Arnautovic.
The former West Ham United and Stoke City striker certainly provides height and a battling presence in attack.
Moreover, Aranautovic is a proven veteran in Serie A, with both Inter and Bologna.
Tuttosport report that Inter would allow the Austrian to leave for a fairly small fee in the January transfer window.
And now it is up to Torino to convince Arnautovic himself.
Tuttosport report that the Granata will sit down with the 35-year-old’s representatives very soon to try and lay the groundwork for a January transfer.
