Fikayo Tomori spoke to the media after AC Milan’s battering of Sassuolo this evening, winning 6-1, and shared his thoughts on the Rossoneri’s ambitions in Coppa Italia.

Milan haven’t won the Coppa Italia since the 2002-03 season and since the Scudetto is looking difficult at the moment, it’s a trophy that could make a difference. The Rossoneri have also been in the final just twice since that win, getting knocked out quite early in recent seasons.

Speaking to Italia 1 after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Tomori shared his thoughts on the competition and Milan’s ambitions for it. He also discussed the defensive phase, as Paulo Fonseca’s men clearly have improved in the last few weeks.

Are you aiming to win the Coppa Italia?

“Yes, of course. We want to win every game, we are a strong team. We started today with a win and we are happy.”

On the defensive phase…

“Another of our goals this season is to concede fewer goals than last season. Now we defend better as a team, as a defensive line. I’m not happy with the goal we conceded, but we are working to improve.”

Now Atalanta…

“We take it game by game, we showed tonight that we are a strong team and we want to win.”

Tomori struggled a bit in the game, it should be noted, as he lost his man on the goal and made another big mistake. He was thus the only player not to get a pass in our ratings, handed a 5.5/10.
