Bradley Barcola (22) began the season in scintillating form, netting in all of Paris Saint-Germain’s opening three games of the Ligue 1 campaign. However, he then failed to score in the next two, inciting critics to speculate about a flash-in-the-pan moment, and leading to questions about his ability to replace Kylian Mbappé.

However, Barcola got back on the scoresheet during Friday evening’s 3-1 victory over Stade Rennais. The France international netted a brace at the Parc des Princes. The discourse around the former Olympique Lyonnais winger immediately flipped once again.

The flip-flopping in the discourse surrounding his forward has frustrated Luis Enrique, who leapt to the defence of Barcola in a post-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News.

“Give me the name of a player that plays well all the time. There isn’t one,” began the PSG manager. “It would be boring if that happened. Today he is God and tomorrow he’s the devil. Please, raise the level.”
