AC Milan are thinking about keeping Riccardo Sottil beyond the six-month loan they agreed with Fiorentina in January, according to a report. There are several reasons for that.

Sottil arrived on deadline day of the January window, more or less as a replacement for Noah Okafor who joined Napoli. So far, he has made seven appearances for Milan and only one of them from start, with zero goals and zero assists to his name.

However, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Milan are thinking about keeping the winger. While he hasn’t contributed with much so far, that is mostly due to a lack of playing time. In training, meanwhile, the Rossoneri have been impressed with his attitude and work rate.

Furthermore, the fact that he’s young, relatively cheap and Italian matters a whole lot, above all for the squad lists as Milan need Italian players. The buy-out clause in the loan deal is set at €11m but as the report continues, it’s possible that a discount could be negotiated.

The new sporting director, as well as head coach, will have a big say on the matter so it’s too early to make any prediction. However, Sottil has impressed the management and with Yacine Adli being at Fiorentina on loan, perhaps a swap of some sort could be worked out.
