Borussia Dortmund finally won a Bundesliga match in 2025, breaking a streak of four consecutive losses. Following a convincing victory in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk, the Black-and-Yellows won their second match in a row against Heidenheim away as they attempt to resuscitate their season.
BVB dominated the match in its majority, accumulating 64% possession, 16 shots, and 2.41 xG generated. The first half was particularly inspiring, with Dortmund circulating the ball in Heidenheim's box and creating good chances. The opening goal was courtesy of Serhou Guirassy, who took advantage of Anton juggling the ball and "assisting" BVB's striker with a deflected shot.
The second half was a little more stressful, with Heidenheim pressing higher and increasing intensity. Even so, Dortmund found the second goal with a well-rehearsed transitional play, resulting in a beautiful assist from Bensebaini to Beier's score.
However, supporting Borussia Dortmund is never an easy task, as Heidenheim got a quick response a few minutes after, 2-1. The homeowner even got closer to a second goal with Özcan's accidental shot close to Kobel's net, but Dortmund were notably the better team and deserved the win in the end.
