Three takeaways from Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Werder Bremen

A draw that looked more like a defeat. That is the best way to describe this Borussia Dortmund 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park. Even with 10 men since the first half, the Black-and-Yellows managed to take a 1-nil lead to halftime, doubling it early in the second half, only to let it slip in the final 40 minutes.

Nico Schlotterbeck's red card twenty-one minutes into the first half marked the match. Nico committed a critical foul on Grull in a 1v1 situation and was deservedly sent off the pitch. Even before that, Dortmund looked slow and passive in possession, taking more chances in counters and quick reverses to the wingers. However, in a beautifully built open-play counter, BVB broke the deadlock with Serhou Guirassy.

With the advantage, Borussia Dortmund started the second half weightless. Things also seemed to be over when Guirassy made a shot to Bremen's own goal on a rehearsed free-kick from Pascal Groß. However, a Bittencourt's screamer ignited the visitors, who drew the match not long later in a gorgeous Stage assist to Ducksch. Two former Dortmund players scored at the Westfalenstadion.
