Manchester City have seen three players leave as free transfers out of the Etihad Stadium this summer, following official confirmation from the Premier League.

It comes off the back of the latest season completed under the coaching of Pep Guardiola, as Manchester City endured their first campaign without a single major trophy to their name since the Catalan’s debut year with the club back in 2016.

The Manchester City manager has been keen to correct those who have claimed he did not win a single trophy however, as his players secured the FA Community Shield with victory over Manchester United last August.

But the outcome of the last season has forced club officials into urgent action to try and get the squad back to its competitive best, bringing in three new outfield players in Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, and Rayan Cherki.

Those signings follow four new additions made during the last January transfer window, with a defensive duo of Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis arrived alongside Nico Gonzalez and Omar Marmoush.

However, with Pep Guardiola preferring to work with a relatively small squad to ensure of harmony within the ranks, exits are now expected to take place over the coming weeks to trim down first-team numbers.

And those removals have started with the clearing out of names with expiring contracts, as the Premier League this week listed the free agents and free transfers out of their 20 member clubs ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

As confirmed in a Premier League statement, all of third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson, legendary playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, and Academy prospect Tai Sodje have left Manchester City on free transfers following the expiries of their respective contracts with the club.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Carson will return to the game in a playing capacity as he turns 40-years-old in September, but trained at the very highest level at the Etihad Stadium over the course of his six-year stay with the club.

As for Kevin De Bruyne, the legendary Belgian midfielder continues to operate at the top of European football having signed an initial two-year contract with the reigning Serie A champions Napoli.

Following on from the three departures in the last few weeks, it remains to be seen who else could be departing the Etihad Stadium, with lingering doubts over the futures of Ilkay Gundogan, Ederson, and Mateo Kovacic in particular.

All of Kyle Walker, Kalvin Phillips, Jack Grealish, and James McAtee are expected to leave and Manchester City are open to offers being made, while contractual renewals are being lined up for Ruben Dias, Rodri, and Rico Lewis.
