Three Lionesses’ stars return to the England squad but one big name still out | OneFootball

Lionesses‘ boss Sarina Wiegman is handed a major boost as Georgia Stanway, Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp return to the England squad but Chelsea forward Lauren James misses out for England’s final two Nations League group matches.

Manchester City forward Hemp has not been in the England squad since November after she underwent surgery for a knee injury, club team-mate Greenwood suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in December and Bayern Munich’s Stanway has been out since January with a lateral collateral ligament tear.

Despite the inclusion of the three England stars, James misses out with a hamstring injury, Wiegman will be hoping the forward will be back for the Euros as she prepares for her fin al two competitoiev matches before going to Switzerland in July.

Amongst the squad is Tottenham’s Ella Morris gets her first ever England call up after she impressed in the U23 squad previously.

Brighton’s on loan Arsenal striker Michelle Agyemang receives her second call up after she capped her England debut with a goal against Belgium and will hope for more minutes in the upcoming fixtures.

Aston Villa midfielder Missy Bo Kearns has also been recalled after missing the last squad. The players that have made way include, Manchester United’s Millie Turner, Villa’s Lucy Parker and Brighton’s Maisie Symonds.

Wins for England against Portugal at Wembley and Spain in Barcelona will be enough for England to qualify for the knockout stages of the Nations League and should also put them in a good position ahead of defending their Euros crown.
