Marcus Rashford has been a name linked with Barcelona for some time now, but as the winter transfer window nears its close, it seems increasingly unlikely that the Manchester United forward will join the club.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, while Rashford remains an option for the summer, Barcelona are not prioritising his signing.

Instead, they are more interested in players like Luis Diaz from Liverpool, Rafael Leao from AC Milan, and Alexander Isak from Newcastle.

The Rashford option is slipping away

With only a few days left in the transfer market, the chances of Rashford arriving at Barcelona this winter appear almost impossible.

Despite the player’s desire to play for Barcelona under manager Hansi Flick, it seems that his move will not happen in this window. Sources within the club suggest that a loan deal for the 27-year-old forward is not a realistic option right now.

One of the factors complicating the move is Barcelona’s inability to free up the necessary salary space.

The club had hoped that players like Ansu Fati, Eric Garcia, and Andreas Christensen would be sold, thus generating funds and allowing for the arrival of new signings.

However, none of these players have left, and without the necessary adjustments to their wage bill, Barcelona are unable to make the move for Rashford, unless something changes in the final days of the window.

The other options

Despite this setback, however, Barcelona have still been impressive in attack this season, scoring plenty of goals.

While Rashford could bring added depth and variety to the forward line, particularly with Ansu not being part of Hansi Flick’s plans at the moment, the club has other priorities.

Instead of Rashford, Barcelona are focusing their attention on other targets, with players like Diaz, Leao, and Isak being seen as more viable options for the club’s future plans.

While the likes of Diaz and Leao are right-wingers, Isak’s ability to play as a centre-forward would be a big advantage for the team.
