Thierry Henry says the fan inside him still believes something could happen on the Premier League’s final day, but he knows it’s all in Manchester City’s hands.

Going into the Premier League’s final day, Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to win the title.

Pep Guardiola’s side are two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table, and they only need to secure a home win against West Ham United to guarantee that they’ll be lifting the trophy at full time.

Yet the title race isn’t done yet. If City mess up, even just slipping to a draw, an Arsenal win would secure the title for the Gunners instead.

Thanks to Arsenal’s goal difference advantage, any win would take them above City if City don’t win.

Assessing that situation, Thierry Henry admitted on Football Focus he’s seen too much from City to feel confident about a slip-up, but he hopes it will happen.

“It’s in their hands,” Henry began. “I’ve seen them doing it so many times…the ‘Aguero’ moment to the Tottenham game the other day, to whatever. I’ve seen them not collapsing.

“But the fan [in me] on the other side is like ‘hey, listen, you never know what can happen’.

“When the ref’s gonna blow the [final] whistle, I hope that’s not going to bring me back to reality. Because reality, right now, unfortunately for anyone else, is that only the City fans can be cocky, only the City fans can be talking.

“If we win, and we have the trophy, don’t come and interview me! I’m gonna talk. I’m gonna speak a lot.

“But City is a special team. I just hope that they’re not going to win.”

It’s hard to argue with that assessment. The race isn’t dead yet, and Arsenal need to be there to capitalise if City make a rare mistake. But it just doesn’t look likely given their recent history and current form.
