Former Chelsea star William Gallas believes the club are in a difficult position because they have made too many changes in a short space of time.

It’s been over two years since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over and it’s safe to say things haven’t gone to plan on the pitch.

Chelsea finished 12th in the 2022/2023 campaign which saw Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard manage the side, whilst they did improve last season with a sixth placed finish they are still a long way off where they want to be.

Gallas feels Chelsea have made too many changes

Pretty much everything from top to bottom has changed at Chelsea in just over two years and the club have massively lacked stability.

The new ownership are already on their fourth permanent manager and the Blues have now gone consecutive seasons without winning silverware.

The owners have shown ambition in the transfer market, and despite the talent in the squad they massively lack experience and know how, which probably ending up costing the club a place in the Champions League last season.

Gallas feels the ownership have made too many changes in a short space of time.

Gallas, who won the Premier League twice in his time at Stamford Bridge feels his former side are struggling due to the volume of changes made in a short space of time.

“If I am being honest, it hasn’t started well for the new ownership at Chelsea,” he told GIVEMESPORT.

“They made too many changes in such a short time, that’s what has put them in a difficult position.

“I hope the new manager is there for a long time because Chelsea are buying young players on long contracts.

“Last year they finished sixth in the Premier League and Chelsea are a club that has to win trophies.

“It’s a club that doesn’t think about two or three years into the future, they just think about now and winning.

“This season they need to finish in the top four and get back into the Champions League, and maybe lift another cup.”
