Milan and Juventus combined just three shots on target at San Siro on Saturday, completing less than 70 passes each in the final third.

Milan and Juventus picked up a dull 0-0 draw at San Siro on Saturday evening, and the display was so poor that the Rossoneri were booed by their own fans after the final whistle.

As the stats explain, Paulo Fonseca and Thiago Motta’s sides didn’t really try to win the match.

Juventus had two shots on target, both from outside the box, as highlighted by Lega Serie A. Milan, on the other hand, registered a shot on target, but it was the only one in the game for them.

The home side completed just 68 passes in their final third, one more than Juventus.

Furthermore, the Old Lady made 286 backpasses against Milan’s 182. The forward passes were just 160 for Milan and 175 for the Bianconeri.

The ball-possession gap wasn’t that big: Juventus had 56%, leaving their rivals the remaining 44%, but it was sterile on both sides, as the backpass stat shows.

Italian media criticised Milan and Juventus on Sunday, calling their San Siro meeting ‘ugly’ and ‘horrific.’
