AC Milan Women played out a 2-2 draw against bottom-of-the-table Sampdoria on matchday 15 of the women’s Serie A division. On the back of a thumping win over Napoli last week, the Rossonere showed character and determination to rescue a late point: Karczewska (84’) and Piga (90’) found the net after Fallico and Arcangeli had put the hosts in control.
After a goalless first half, the Rossonere fell behind straight after the restart. Coach Bakker’s side created plenty of chances and hit the post twice through Ijeh and Karczewska, but they conceded a second with 15 minutes of normal time remaining. Karczewska certainly made a difference after coming on, with the Pole pulling one back in the closing stages. Piga’s equaliser, which arrived in the 90th minute, was the right reward for the Rossonere’s constant pressure. Following today’s result, we now have 19 points and remain in sixth place.

MATCH REPORT AC Milan started in proactive fashion, looking to take the game to their opponents. The Rossonere came close with an effort from Cernoia, who was denied by Tampieri (17’). The Sampdoria goalkeeper was also tested by Sorelli, with Dompig firing the rebound over (28’). In the 33rd minute, Arrigoni had two attempts from the edge of the box: the first was blocked, and the second finished narrowly off target. In the 41st minute, Ijeh and Renzotti couldn’t quite connect with a cross from Dompig. As for Sampdoria, they were defending well and trying to strike on the counter, but they never threatened in the opening 45 minutes.
However, the hosts struck immediately after the restart with a precise right-footed strike from Fallico. It was a setback for AC Milan, who, however increased the pressure and created opportunities: Tampieri produced a great save to thwart Rubio on the hour mark, while Ijeh hit the post from a good position in the 72nd minute. Sampdoria then doubled their advantage on the 76-minute mark through Arcangeli on the counter. The Rossonere didn’t give up and pulled one back through Karczewska following a scramble in the area (84’). AC Milan continued to push and scored a deserved equaliser through a precise right-footed strike from Piga (90’). The Rossonere went on the hunt for a stoppage-time winner, but the Sampdoria defence held firm.
