Real Madrid are reportedly not prioritising a transfer move for Martin Zubimendi, despite the midfielder’s growing reputation as one of the top talents in La Liga.
According to Defensa Central, although the 25-year-old defensive midfielder has long been admired by the club, he is not currently at the top of their transfer wish list.
Zubimendi, who currently plays for Real Sociedad, has a €60 million buyout clause, which makes him an attractive prospect for many of Europe’s top clubs. Given his age and potential, there is no shortage of suitors monitoring his situation closely.
Explaining the decision
However, Real Madrid have some reservations about making a move for Zubimendi, as his signing would present challenges within their current squad.
With midfielders such as Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham already featuring prominently in the team, adding Zubimendi would force the club to make difficult decisions.

This could mean one of the existing midfielders either losing their place in the starting XI or potentially being sold.
Focus is somewhere else
At the moment, Real Madrid are focused on strengthening other areas of the squad. Their priority is to sign a generational centre-back and additional full-backs to reinforce the defensive line.
While the club continues to be linked with numerous players, it seems unlikely that Zubimendi will be a target in the near future.
Real Madrid appear to be satisfied with the midfield options currently available, and any potential move for Zubimendi may only be considered in the summer of 2025.
For now, Zubimendi’s links with Real Madrid remain uncertain, and it seems that the club is not in a rush to make a move for the highly sought-after midfielder.
Rather, the club is in no immediate need of reinforcements in that area, and their attention is instead directed towards other strategic signings that could strengthen their overall squad depth.
