Football League World looks at the players currently set to leave the Swansea.com Stadium for nothing this summer
While Luke Williams' attention will likely be centred on keeping Swansea City away from any serious threat of relegation to League One in the closing stages of the current campaign, an element of focus must also apply to the impending contractual expiries as a number of players edge ever closer to leaving the Welsh side.
There are no less than six players currently set to leave the Swansea.com Stadium for nothing come the summer, while loanees Lewis O'Brien and Myles Peart-Harris will also return to Nottingham Forest and Brentford respectively.
Football League World takes a closer look at those who could leave Swansea and become free agents in just a few months' time...
Undoubtedly the heavy hitter on the six-strong list of soon-to-be-out-of-contract players at the club, Harry Darling's situation remains uncertain as he closes in on the final months of the three-year deal he signed to join from MK Dons in June 2022.
Swansea have now missed their opportunity to cash in on the 25-year-old, who had emerged as a late target for promotion hopefuls Sheffield United. Darling was also linked with Birmingham City last month.
It's not yet clear whether the highly-rated central defender, who is one of Swansea's most important assets, intends on extending his stay with the club.
Williams previously revealed discussions may have to be shelved until the summer, which leaves Swansea in a very precarious position.
They will desperately want to keep hold of Darling, but if Swansea fail to rise back up the league table then it's really not difficult to see him moving on to a side with genuine ambitions of promotion.
In contrast, Swansea will be much more content with seeing Kristian Pedersen leave once his deal expires this summer.
Remarkably, the 30-year-old has featured on just seven occassions since joining in September 2023, having spent the second-half of last season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday.
It just hasn't worked out at all for the ex-Birmingham City defender, who will surely be allowed to leave on a free transfer come June.
One would also imagine a departure for Cyrus Christie, who is set to see the short-term deal he penned back in November to return to SA1 expire at the end of the season.
Christie, of course, enjoyed a succcessful loan spell from Fulham during the second-half of the 2021/22 campaign, and then returned in November after spending the summer as a free agent following his release by Hull City.
The experienced right-back knows what it takes to compete at this level and certainly has his uses. However, it's hard to really see Swans looking to extend his stay at this stage.
There's a crucial decision to be made with fan favourite Joe Allen, who will celebrate his 35th birthday before he reaches the end of his three-year contract in the summer.
The 76-cap Welsh international made more than 100 appearances for Swans before earning a move to Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool in August 2012. After a decade away, Allen returned from Stoke and has now been back with Swansea for three years, but injuries have blighted his homecoming, it must be said.
Allen is a leader with real experience and top-level pedigree, and Williams knows he will always get 110 per cent effort out of the veteran midfielder. But there is a debate about whether Swansea now need to put sentimentalism aside, with supporters rather split on what should happen with Allen's future.
Another long-serving veteran is soon to be out of contract in Kyle Naughton, who has been with Swansea for eleven years after joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2015.
He has made more than 300 appearances for Swansea but has naturally performed a more reduced squad role over the last three campaigns, with age catching up to the 36-year-old.
You do get the impression that the average age of Swans' squad could be significantly reduced next season.
37-year-old shot-stopper Jon McLaughlin will see his contract expire in the summer, and his future does feel pretty much settled.
McLaughlin was brought in to act as cover for Lawrence Vigouroux, signing a one-year deal. The Scotsman, who has formerly taken in spells with the likes of Hearts, Sunderland and Rangers, has played just once for Swansea and looks set to be out the door once again in a matter of months.
