Alan Hutton believes that Leeds United will see their star winger Crysencio Summerville leave in the summer transfer window, among growing interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Summerville stuck around with the West Yorkshire side following their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship 12 months ago, and proved to be a vital cog in Daniel Farke's setup.

During what was a compelling race for automatic promotion that involved the Whites along with Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton, the 22-year-old so often lit up the Elland Road stage with a string of majestic performances in the left wing position.

Unfortunately, for his and United's sake, they fell six points short of the Tractor Boys in second, before losing the play-off final to the Saints at Wembley on May 26th.

Due to the quality within Farke's ranks, many high-profile names have been touted with moves away, and Summerville is no exception to that role.

Summerville has been the subject of long-standing interest from Premier League sides at varying points of last season, which has only grown stronger following the recent defeat in North London.

So much so that former Tottenham Hotspur and Scotland full-back, Alan Hutton, believes that the Dutchman will depart over the course of the summer, with the transfer window opening in two days' time.

Leeds fans won’t thank me for it, but I think he will be away,” Hutton told Football Insider. “That’s the truth. He’s an outstanding footballer and his numbers show it with the ability that he’s shown on a regular basis.

"He’s more than capable of playing in the Premier League," the 39-year-old claimed.

Hutton then referenced a potential pricepoint for United's star man, as adequate replacements for a promotion bid must then be sourced.

We’re talking about high numbers now, he’ll probably cost upwards of £30million," he added. “Leeds want to cash in if they can because there’ll be other players that might leave who they will want to replace to help them compete."

He’s done really well for them, but I think he wants to play at the highest level."

The former full-back concluded: “Sometimes it works for all parties because you bring that value into the club as well, so I’ve got a feeling he’ll be allowed to leave.”

The latest in the ongoing Crysencio Summerville transfer saga

The most recent update regarding a potential departure came through TEAMtalk, who revealed on Monday that Brighton and Hove Albion had joined the long list of potential suitors which already included the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Fulham.

Further on in the report, the publication state that they understand Summerville has no plans to force a departure, being under contract at Elland Road until 2026.

This comes months after Alan Nixon stated that the recently departed Roberto De Zerbi had Summerville on his radar as a potential replacement for Japanese winger, Kauro Mitoma.

Furthermore, there had been claims that Liverpool had pulled out of the running to secure Summerville's signature in Arne Slot's maiden transfer window at Anfield. However, they were soon dismissed by transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano as per his 'The Daily Briefing' column on CaughtOffside.

“Talk of the Reds no longer being interested in the winger can’t be true as it is still early for this transfer. The appreciation from both clubs is still there, so we have to see if they decide to approach Leeds for Summerville at some point during the transfer window," the Italian stated.

Crysencio Summerville departure is a realistic proposition

Although he would no doubt be a shining light in the second tier next season, it does seem extremely likely that Summerville will leave Leeds, with a significant fee no doubt easing any potential financial worries, as well as reinvestment ahead of another promotion bid.

It was recently claimed by German news outlet BILD, relayed via SportWitness, that Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have aims of securing a cut-price deal in the region of €20m, which unquestionably falls below the valuation which Leeds would realistically hold out for.

Journalist Ben Jacobs stated to GiveMeSport that the Liverpool and Chelsea target would be available for a £35-£40m fee, which is the region which United must look to push any bids towards, given his overall importance to the squad and club as a whole.
