In a dazzling display at Anfield, Liverpool asserted their Premier League dominance with a convincing 2-0 win over Newcastle United. Under the leadership of Arne Slot, the team not only secured three crucial points but also expanded their lead at the summit to an imposing 13 points. The spotlight was firmly on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, whose goals propelled Liverpool to victory.
Dominik Szoboszlai set the tone early, netting a crucial goal at the 11-minute mark, instilling an early edge that would set the pace for the remainder of the game. Alexis Mac Allister doubled the advantage post the hour, ensuring that Liverpool capitalised on their momentum.
After the match, the duo spoke to TNT Sports, sharing their perspectives on the game’s unfolding and their outlook for the season. Their comments underscored a team fiercely focused on maintaining their lead and chasing silverware.

Alexis Mac Allister highlighted the team’s consistent performance and the crucial timing of his goal. “We didn’t start the second half as we wanted. It was nice because I like to get to this position. Sometimes I don’t get the ball, but this time Mo [Salah] played it, so [I’m] really happy for that.” His goal not only secured the win but also demonstrated Liverpool’s ability to capitalize on crucial moments.
Mac Allister also emphasized the luxury of a seven-day break before their next engagement, a respite that the squad is keenly anticipating. “Yes, definitely. We need it. We were talking and we were a little bit tired, but this week it will be nice to get some rest and some days off. Thanks to Arne as well!”

Dominik Szoboszlai reflected on his exceptional form, considering his performance as one of his career peaks. “It’s my second season so it was not a long time I had any chance to score twice [in a row] in a different game. I’m really happy to help the team. The most important [thing] is the team. If I can score even more goals back-to-back I would be happy, but until we are in the first position of the league I am more happy.”
He also discussed Liverpool’s commanding lead in the league, “After mathematically they have no chance to get us! We are really happy to be 13 points clear, but we will focus on ourselves. Now we have the Champions League coming up, so we will have to focus on this as well. Then game by game we are looking forward to staying at the top.”

Szoboszlai also shared insights into the squad’s ambitions, hinting at a hunger for a treble this season. “When I came to Liverpool I wanted to win everything in my first season! I don’t like to talk about it. We have to focus as I said game by game. First [in the] Champions League we have to go through, we have a Premier League game in between, then we have a cup final against them [Newcastle]. [They are a] really tough team. They have a really good playing style, so we have to be ready. We will focus first in the Champions League and then the cup final is coming up as well.”
The victory over Newcastle not only solidifies Liverpool’s position at the top but also underscores their readiness to compete on multiple fronts. With leaders like Szoboszlai and Mac Allister at the helm, Liverpool continues to look ahead, with eyes firmly set on adding more silverware to their illustrious cabinet.
