Nottingham Forest have moved swiftly to strengthen their attacking ranks with the signing of Brazil international Igor Jesus from Botafogo. The 24-year-old arrives on a four-year deal, with the transfer fee believed to be in the region of £10 million—a calculated investment as Forest gear up for their first European campaign in nearly three decades.
Jesus brings pedigree and promise. A forward known as much for his goals as for his celebratory theatrics—his signature move involves mimicking a fireball launched from his hands—the new No. 9 has already shown a taste for the big stage. He scored twice at the Club World Cup, including a decisive strike against Paris Saint-Germain, helping Botafogo reach the knockout stages.
There’s an energy in Jesus’ words that mirrors the urgency of Forest’s recruitment strategy. “I’m really happy to be part of this new story, especially at a club like Nottingham Forest,” he said. “I didn’t have to think twice about the offer, I embraced it. I embraced the project they sent me and I am delighted to be coming here and hope to do some great work.”
Such immediate enthusiasm offers a sharp contrast to the often-cautious tone of modern transfers. Jesus appears not only willing but eager to take the Premier League by storm—mirroring the dynamism that Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has demanded from his squad.
Last season’s seventh-place finish marked a significant shift in Forest’s fortunes, powered in part by Chris Wood’s 20-goal haul. The arrival of Jesus provides not just competition but genuine support—another weapon in a front line that will need both depth and quality to navigate the demands of domestic and European football.

Jesus has already demonstrated his credentials on the international stage, having scored on his debut for Brazil against Chile. He also played a key role in Botafogo’s domestic double, winning both the Série A and the Copa Libertadores.
Forest’s chief football officer Ross Wilson is confident the new recruit will fit in seamlessly. “Igor joins a strong and united squad, we are sure he will settle well into our group,” he said.
With the Europa Conference League on the horizon, Nottingham Forest are clearly not content with simply being back at the table—they intend to feast. Jesus’ arrival signals a step towards a broader ambition, where Brazilian brilliance meets East Midlands determination. If he finds his rhythm early, there’s every chance Forest fans will be launching fireballs of their own in celebration.
