Stones voted Etihad Player of the Month for October | OneFootball

John Stones has been voted our Etihad Player of the Month for October.

Our classy centre-half beat off competition from Josko Gvardiol and Matheus Nunes to emerge successful in collecting the individual honour.

Erling Haaland has won the previous two – for August and September – across 2024/25.

It’s a well-deserved prize for Stones who excelled at both ends of the pitch across the third month of the campaign.

The standout moment for Stones undoubtedly came at Molineux in a last-gasp victory which had sky blue staff, players and fans jumping for joy.

It was 1-1 at Wolves deep into injury time, with the game looking all set for a draw.

But up popped Stones with a late header that earned all three points and his celebration with sky blue fans was truly memorable.

There was momentary panic when the goal was disallowed but then VAR intervened, prompting even wilder scenes from the players on the pitch.

Stones was also on the scoresheet at the Etihad in October, with another header, in our 5-0 victory in the UCL against Sparta Prague.
