Stefano Pioli’s appointment at Al-Ittihad in doubt, Christophe Galtier among alternative targets | OneFootball

24 hours ago, two things seemed certain at Al-Ittihad: former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli would be appointed and he would be joined by Stade Rennais’ Arthur Theate (24). Neither move is now assured, as L’Équipe report.

In-fighting has seemingly scuppered the deal for Belgium international Theate, who is now in contact with multiple Premier League clubs, according to L’Équipe. This in-fighting and internal conflict at the Saudi Arabian club also threateens the arrival of Pioli, who had looked nailed on to replace Marcelo Gallardo at the club.

With the appointment of the Italian manager now coming into question, Al-Ittihad are now looking at alternatives, notably a whole host of French managers, including Christophe Galtier, currently manager of Qatari side Al-Duhail. Get French Football News can confirm the Saudi Pro League club’s interest in the former Paris Saint-Germain manager.

Hervé Renard, who will leave his post as manager of the France Women’s team, Laurent Blanc, out of working since leaving Olympique Lyonnais last September, and Willy Sagnol, currently head coach of the Georgia national team, are other names being considered, according to L’Équipe.
