Real Madrid’s midfield puzzle is beginning to take shape under new boss Xabi Alonso, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni central to the club’s plans going forward.
However, the emergence of this new generation has cast doubts over the future of Dani Ceballos, a player who finds himself on the fringes of the first-team setup.
This is despite the fact Ceballos has never quite disappointed whenever given the opportunity. But everything has changed under new coach Alonso.
Ceballos, in fact, is reportedly quite disappointed at Alonso, which has further fueled speculation over his future.
According to MARCA, Ceballos is aware of his situation at Real Madrid and has narrowed down to two options: Stay at Real Madrid and fight for a place, or return to Real Betis.

Betis have been linked with a move for Ceballos for the longest time and it won’t be surprising to see them make an approach for the midfielder this summer.
For Ceballos, this would also represent a return home and a chance to rekindle the best version of himself in familiar surroundings.
AC Milan have also been linked with a move for the former Arsenal midfielder, but it appears the player has ruled out a move to anywhere except Real Betis.
For now, no final decision has been made, and Ceballos remains calm, waiting to see how the squad shapes up before the new season.
But with Real Madrid’s midfield stacked and minutes likely to be hard to come by, a move back to Betis might be the logical step in reigniting his career.
