With just one win in five across all competitions, pressure is starting to build up slightly on Liverpool ahead of their trip to Brentford on Saturday. Arne Slot’s side still sit four points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand, but a three points feels like a must.
Slot confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Joe Gomez will be sidelined for this one, whilst Diogo Jota is also a doubt after picking up a ‘niggle’ in the draw at Nottingham Forest.
With that being said, let’s take a look at our predicted lineup for the game…
Alisson Becker will remain in goal despite a patchy run of form that has seen him concede 9 out of his last 15 shots on targets faced. Trent Alexander-Arnold will remain at right-back, but Kostas Tsimikas will come into the side for Andy Robertson.

Virgil Van Dijk will captain the side from the heart of defence and will be joined by Ibou Konate. The likes of Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah will provide depth from the bench.
Verdict: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk (C), Tsimikas
Ryan Gravenberch will partner Alexis Mac Allister once again at the base of the midfield. The Return of Dominik Szboszlai was a huge boost against Forest and the Hungarian will likely start again in this one.

Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott will likely be named on the bench and will look to make some form of impact.
Verdict: Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai
This phrase has been said many times this season, but Darwin Nunez could be handed an absolutely huge opportunity in the starting lineup against Brentford. With Slot confirming that Jota is a doubt for Saturday’s game and with Luis Diaz struggling to make an impact as the false-nine, Nunez could be in line for a start. The Uruguayan should be fresh too after missing the clash with Nottingham Forest through suspension.

Mohamed Salah will of course start on the right-wing and will look to return to form after a run of frustrating performances against Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.
That leaves the left-wing spot between Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz and I just think that the Dutchman edges it at the minute and is looking far more clinical.
Verdict: Salah, Nunez, Gakpo
Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk (C), Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Nunez, Gakpo
Bench: Kelleher, Quansah, Bradley, Robertson, Endo, Jones, Elliott, Diaz, Jota
