Stadium owner sees solution to Vitesse licensing problem

Michael van de Kuit, owner of GelreDome, fears that Vitesse will lose its appeal against the revocation of its professional license and has proposed a solution, according to Voetbal International.

It’s been almost a week since the KNVB revoked Vitesse’s professional license for the second time. The Arnhem residents appealed this decision, but Stadion Arnhem found that, in their view, the licensing committee had thoroughly substantiated its decision. This leaves the stadium owner with little confidence in Vitesse’s appeal.

According to the licensing committee, Vitesse are systematically evading the licensing system, as it still hasn’t got its affairs in order after the failed takeover by Coley Parry. This was the reason for revoking its professional license for the second time. Stadion Arnhem, under Van de Kuit’s leadership, want to return to its previous shareholder structure to increase its chances of retaining its professional license.

Stadion Arnhem want Vitesse’s current foundation to be reorganised, with an independent board. The foundation will then manage Vitesse’s shares and oversee the sale process to a new owner. Current shareholders must be willing to transfer their shares to the foundation in order for this to work.

Arnhem Stadium expects that if this is implemented, the licensing committee will take the new situation into account and consider it a positive step. Van de Kuit: “I urge all stakeholders to join forces and embrace this solution.”
