To mark Diversity Day in Germany, the Bundesliga club revealed its partnership with LichtBlick to not only provide a renewable and sustainable energy source for their near-30,000-capacity home, but also one that aligns with St Pauli's long-established stance on LGBTQ+ rights.

"FC St. Pauli thanks its partner LichtBlick for their support of the project and the long-standing, trusting collaboration," said Wilken Engelbracht, Commercial Director of FC St. Pauli. "It is very important for the club to be able to rely on partners who so resolutely support our positions and ideas."

"We are truly thrilled because visibility is so important in these times when attempts are being made to make the queer community invisible again. Our rights are being curtailed, there are more attacks, and the LGBTQ+ community is being attacked," says Tanja from St. Pauli Pride. “The fact that we are now getting this visibility here at Millerntor in combination with renewable energies is a strong signal on so many levels, and we are very pleased about it.

The 1080 solar modules cover 1800m2 of the Nordtribune's roof and will produce 285,000 kWh a year, the average annual use of some 80 households, while also saving between 135 and 140 tonnes of CO2. The rainbow colouring was made possible by an innovative laminating technique.

"For us, diversity, climate protection, and social responsibility are inextricably linked. Together with FC St. Pauli, we are making this visible at Millerntor with a solar system that is far more than just technology on the roof," said LichtBlick CEO Marc Wallraff, whose company has worked with St Pauli since 2013. "Projects like this show that innovation is not just a question of efficiency, but also a way to reach people and inspire them for sustainable solutions."
