The transfer window recently closed, but Tottenham are already preparing for the next one.

Not long ago, we reported that Liverpool showed interest in one of Spurs’ defenders, the young Micky van de Ven. However, in our view, it seems unlikely that they will be able to sign him.

The club have endured several poor runs this season, and while fans continue chanting Daniel Levy’s name during matches and pushing for a managerial change, they believe what Spurs truly need is a major shift.

Regarding Tottenham’s transfer activity, it has also emerged that the North London club have their sights set on a French forward from Inter Milan—Marcus Thuram.

Now, the latest rumour points to an 18-year-old Spanish teenager.

Newcastle close to hijacking Antonio Cordero’s move to Tottenham

As we recall, during the last winter transfer window, Spurs actively sought to bring in new attacking options.

And, judging by Ange Postecoglou’s apparent plan, signing young players seems to be the preferred approach.

A prime example is Mathys Tel, now at Tottenham. Initially, reports suggested he had rejected the club, but Ange Postecoglou himself later dismissed those claims.

According to recent reports, Spurs have joined the race for Malaga CF starlet Antonio Cordero.

However, despite Tottenham’s strong interest in signing the young Spaniard, TBR Football claims that Newcastle United are highly confident they will beat the North London club in this battle.

But these two giants are not the only clubs keeping an eye on Cordero—RB Leipzig, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund are also closely monitoring him.

Graeme Bailey, chief correspondent for TBR, states that a move to the Premier League could be the most sensible step for the Spanish talent.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, Newcastle currently lead the race.

The same outlet reports that talks with the Magpies have already taken place in recent weeks and that a deal is taking shape.

Antonio Cordero – the signing that won’t happen

Despite Antonio Cordero’s impressive season—featuring 25 matches played, 4 goals scored, and 1,376 minutes on the pitch—a move to Tottenham does not appear to be on the cards.

Let’s not forget that Spurs already boast a strong group of talented young players, including Brennan Johnson, Mikey Moore, and Wilson Odobert.
