The continued success of Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley was covered yesterday. In their rearranged FA Cup third round tie, Keeley made a crucial penalty save to send Leyton Orient to the fourth round, setting up a tie against Manchester City, whilst Donley also scored his penalty. Earlier in the day, the Ireland U21 goalkeeper had been named the PFA fans league one player of the month.
There have been a few other Spurs loanees in action this midweek, however. There was action in the Championship, the FA Cup, and the Scottish Premier Football League.
To begin, Matthew Craig made his first Mansfield Town start in their rearranged tie at home to fellow League One side Wigan Athletic. For the game, Nigel Clough named Craig in the starting XI - meaning he had started as many games for the Stags as he did for Barnsley post October.
However, there would be no perfect debut, as Mansfield were condemned to a 2-0 defeat by their counterparts, putting an end to their FA Cup journey for this year. As for Craig himself, he was replaced around midway through the second half.
Meanwhile, in the Championship - Dane Scarlett was back on the bench for Oxford United's trip to Plymouth Argyle, despite starting and registering an assist in their FA Cup defeat at fellow Devon side, and arch rivals Exeter City. In fairness, Mark Harris, who came back from injury to replace the on loan Spurs man - provided an assist of his own, as the U's went into the break with a one goal lead.
Ultimately, Plymouth would equalise 18 minutes into the second half. Five minutes later, Scarlett replaced Harris, as the sides would both settle for a share of the spoils. This draw makes it 11 points from five games to begin the Gary Rowett era, and leaves them in 17th place in the league, with 29 points from their 26 games.
Finally, Alfie Dorrington was named on the bench for Aberdeen's trip to face Rangers. With the Dons trailing 1-0, the defender came on as a sub around twenty minutes into the second half. It would, sadly, be the absolutely nightmare debut.
Going into injury time, the game was still in the balance at 1-0. However, the hosts would add another two goals in the closing moments, with Dorrington making an error for one of those. No doubt a big learning curve for him, time to respond as well as possible.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen are still waiting for their first defeat since the 9th of November. This defeat means it is 35 points from 25 games, as they sit fourth in the league.
Next up for Mansfield is a home game to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, where Craig could make his league debut. 15:00 GMT kick off.
For Oxford, it is a home game against Blackburn Rovers, also a 15:00 GMT kick off on Saturday.
FInally, Aberdeen play Elgin City away in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. Another Saturday 15:00 GMT kick off.
